Emergency storage quantities for fuel related items
April 24, 2009 - "Emergency storage quantities for fuel related items" By Joseph Parish. Just about everyone stores candles for emergencies however very few people really know how many to store up on. To judge the time it takes for a candle to melt you must consider its diameter as well as the length. A candle which is ¾ of an inch in diameter and 4 inches long will burn for approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes, while one which is 7/8 of an inch but the same length will burn for 5 hours. The two inch diameters will maintain a light for approximately 7 hours per inch. Click here

As a responsible survivalist we should all bear in mind these important safety precautions and have them permanently engraved within our minds any time we pick up our weapons. I consider these rules so important that I have decided to elaborate on them in this article with the hope that these conventions will governor all our actions associated with the use of firearms. Review - Kelty Chinook Sleeping Bag
April 13, 2009 - We have a short review on the Kelty Chinook Sleeping Bag. I'm not an arctic mountain climber or anything like that, but I do like to go on extended canoe and camping trips with my wife. We both use the Kelty Chinook sleeping bag (20 degree model) because it's easy to pack, keeps the water out (even when we hit a little whitewater now and again) and keeps us both warm in our tent from spring to fall. The decision was left up to me, and considering myself a frugal man I was after the most bang for my buck. The Chinook has proven to be the perfect sleeping bag because it isn't too hot for mid-summer canoe trips but also keeps us nice and toasty into the early fall season. Click here

Bug out Journals - How to Learn from Your Mistakes
April 11, 2009 - "Bug Out Journals How to learn from your mistakes" By Joseph Parish. Every survivalist should practice and rehearse what they will actually do should the emergency ever occurs. Being prepared is the main key to survival and the only means by which we can obtain this necessary proficiency is to practice. Every time we execute a practice exercise, we discover that we have forgotten something or we recognize that we need to add something to our BOB or to the BOV. This is not a predominantly lethal dilemma - At this time! It could very well be if we were in an actual situation. Click here

Tell me about Salted Fish
April 7, 2009 - "Tell me about Salted Fish" By Joseph Parish. During the 15th and 16th century, there was no such thing as refrigeration or canning so the professional fishermen of the Mediterranean had to preserve their daily catch by means of salting. Although salting was judged the most widespread method, the anglers also preserved their catch with oil or brine, air-drying and smoking. The most common fish used for salting was anchovies, sardines, tuna, eels, herring plus bottarga, which is Italian for tuna eggs. Click here

Our current time of Crisis makes Bugging out Difficult
April 3, 2009 - "Our current time of crisis makes Bugging out Difficult" By Joseph Parish. Our current financial struggle here in America is on the verge of making an emergency bug out difficult at best. Predictions have been revealed that state our workforce will be at just about a stand still by the end of 2009. In short there simply are not enough jobs for the people. Ninety-five percent of our nation's metropolitan cities will have far fewer job positions available as the year ends than those that they had at the beginning of the year. Click here

There are more questions then we have answers for. Under the expected circumstances all we can do is guess as to what our actions will be. Click here
